CAPSTONE IN DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS, INFORMATION AND MEDIA
Throughout my spring 2015 semester at Rutgers University, I researched how digital media has affected the ways content is created, shared, consumed, and monetized.
Social networks and the rising ubiquity of digital technology, particularly smartphones, is pushing the future of media closer and closer to being entirely digital. This effect will only be compounded as technology continues to proliferate. The decline of print media — notably print newspapers — has accelerated in recent years, leading many to believe that the media itself is also declining.
This essay hopes to prove the contrary: the media isn't dying, it's changing, growing, and evolving.
